I don’t know about you, but this winter has been very… wintery. Cold, snowy, quiet, reflective, and honestly kind of revealing. Seasons like this tend to bring things to the surface, especially emotionally.
That’s why the theme for February here at LJ Lifestyle is emotional regulation.
On Wednesday, I’ll be sharing a new blog post where we’ll dive deeper into:
- What emotional regulation actually is
- What it isn’t
- And why it matters, especially during seasons like this
How to Do a Monthly Reset
As we transition out of into a new month, this is a good time to pause, reset and realign.
Here’s a simple way to do a monthly reset in about 15–20 minutes:
1. Reflect on the past month
Ask yourself:
What went well? Where did I struggle? What felt easier than expected?
2. Revisit your bigger picture
Think about where you’re headed overall this year (your future self goals). You don’t need to rewrite your whole plan just remind yourself what you’re working toward.
3. Choose a few priorities for the new month
Instead of focusing on everything, ask:
What actually needs my attention this month? What would move me forward, even a little?
4. Get specific
For each priority, write out what’s required in simple, realistic steps. Think actions, not a list of ideals.
5. Make it enjoyable
Grab a cup of tea, put on a favorite soundtrack, and give yourself permission to focus without rushing.
This isn’t about starting over. This is about making small adjustments so the month ahead feels more intentional.

Just a little reminder that rest and joy matter too. Even planning something to look forward to can be regulating for the nervous system. Cruises can be a great option for families who ant a break from planning every detail while still having space to rest move and connect.
