3/29 Newsletter: Happy New Year! ( Yes, really.)

Hello darlings,

Before we get into it, happy Palm Sunday to those who celebrate. Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week, commemorating the triumphant entry of Yeshua into Jerusalem, when the crowds laid palm branches along the road to welcome him. It is a powerful moment of hope and expectation, a turning point before the events of Easter week unfold. Whether you observe it as a day of faith, reflection, or simply recognize it as part of the season, there is something meaningful about this time of year that invites us all to slow down and pay attention.

And speaking of new beginnings…

Did You Know Spring Is Actually the New Year?

January 1st is a relatively modern invention. For most of human history, cultures around the world celebrated the new year in spring, when the earth begins to come back to life. But this is not just ancient cultural tradition. It is actually rooted in Scripture.

In the Bible, the month of Nisan, which falls in March and April, is counted as the first month of the year. In Exodus 12:2, God spoke directly to Moses and said “This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you.” This was spring. This was Nisan. Nisan is referred to in scripture as the month of miracles and the month of redemption, because it is when God delivered Israel from slavery in Egypt.

The Hebrew letters that spell Nisan can even be rearranged to spell the word for king, pointing to its significant place on God’s prophetic timeline. And it is right here, during this same season, that Yeshua entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, was crucified at Passover, and rose from the dead. New life. New beginnings. Spring.

This is not a coincidence. God has always connected this season to renewal, liberation, and fresh starts.

Closing Out March: How Did You Do?

We have covered a lot of ground together since January. Nervous system regulation. Emotional regulation. Gut health. The connection between stress, sleep, nutrition, and how your body functions day to day.

Take a moment before April arrives to honestly reflect on the last three months. Not to judge yourself, but to acknowledge what you actually did.

Ask yourself:

What is one habit I built or strengthened this year so far?

What is one thing I let go of that was no longer serving me?

What surprised me about myself?

What felt hard but I kept going anyway?

Write your answers down. This is not a wish list. This is evidence of who you are becoming.

Looking Ahead to April: How to Do a Real Monthly Reset

Most people set goals like a wish list and wonder why nothing changes. A real reset is different. Here is a simple structure that actually works:

Step 1: Review March honestly. What did you finish? What did you start but not complete? What got in the way?

Step 2: Choose one to three focus areas for April. Not ten. Not five. One to three. Nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, mindset. Pick what matters most right now.

Step 3: Attach your goals to actions, not outcomes. Instead of “I want to lose weight,” write “I will take a 20 minute walk three times a week.” Outcomes are the destination. Actions are the vehicle.

Step 4: Schedule it. A goal without a date is a dream. Put your action steps on your calendar like appointments.

Step 5: Build in a weekly check in. Every Friday, take five minutes to ask yourself how the week went. Adjust as needed. Consistency beats perfection every single time.
