This past week, I planned to make fresh bread for my family. But I got caught up in work and kept putting it off. Then I discovered a couple of forgotten loaves of store-bought bread in my pantry, weeks past their expiration dates without a speck of mold. Like what the heck?! So after that, I made time to make some bread lol
See this reminded me why I prefer making our bread at home. A few simple ingredients, no kneading, very little hands-on time, and I know exactly what’s going into it. Nothing wrong with buying bread when it’s convenient, but making it myself is something I want to prioritize more often.
But it also reminded me how accustomed we’ve become to instant gratification. Quick meals, quick money, quick weight loss, quick results. We want everything right now, often forgetting that some of the best things require a little patience and intention. I could have taken a few minutes that morning to prepare the dough before starting work. Instead, I let work take priority. And sometimes that’s what intentional living comes down to. Slowing down long enough to make room for what matters. My family is worth that effort, and so am I.
A Little Challenge This Week
Where in your life have you been choosing convenience over intention? This week, make time for one small thing you’ve been putting off. Not because you have to, but because it’s worth it.
